Some 130 people participated in the 2016 Triangle Bicycle & Pedestrian Workshop earlier this month in Wake Forest.

Since 2011 this half-day event has served as an annual update on regional accomplishments, featuring presentations from local agencies and peer regional metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and information sharing concerning technologies and/or legislative proposals that may impact the bicycling and walking community.

Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones welcomed attendees, and the agenda included accomplishments and upcoming plans for the Capital Area and Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro MPOs, legislative and NCDOT updates, and special presentations on the proposed Wake County Greenway Plan and the Safe Routes to School pilot project being performed within five Wake County Public Schools through a John Rex Endowment grant. Access workshop presentations here.

The workshop featured an optional 2-hour walking tour led by Town of Wake Forest staff and a bike ride on the Neuse River Trail.
