Making Raleigh More Bike-Friendly: Upcoming Open Houses

City of Raleigh staff and consultants are compiling a completed draft BikeRaleigh Plan. Three open house opportunities to preview and comment on elements of the draft plan have been scheduled:bikeraleighlogo330px

  • Monday, November 16, 3:45-6:00 pm
Raleigh Municipal Bldg., 222 W. Hargett St. Raleigh
Followed by a presentation in City Council Chambers
  • Tuesday, November 17, 4:00-7:00 pm
Green Road Community Center, 4201 Green Rd., Raleigh
  • Thursday, November 19, 4:00-7:00 pm
Lake Lynn Community Center, 7921 Ray Rd., Raleigh

This is a great opportunity to provide feedback on the draft plan update. City staff members have begun updating the 2009 plan. Since the 2009 plan was adopted, Raleigh has earned the Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community award, but there is more to do to improve Raleigh’s bikeability.

The BikeRaleigh Program encourages biking in Raleigh through on-road facility design, cycling safety and education promotion and encouragement events. The primary goal is to promote bicycling as a viable, attractive, non-polluting form of transportation and assure safe and convenient access to all areas of the city.
