AHA improves the health and well-being of Wake County residents by facilitating and supporting community initiatives.

Snacks are most important for those of us who struggle to eat what we should during meal times. Young children and the elderly or the sick may need to snack regularly to get the nutrients they need. For the rest of us, snacks are mostly unnecessary.

Snacking has become a national phenomenon that  is a lost opportunity for most of us. Snacks should include foods that we need to eat more of: deep green and yellow fruits and vegetables, whole grains and dairy.

Check out the Eat Smart North Carolina: Snacks and Drinks Guide for an overview on healthy snacking.
