AHA fosters and supports community efforts to make healthy eating and physical activity the way of life in Wake County.

AHA Matters: Carol Mitchell

AHA matters“AHA is a leader and model for successful community partnerships. A perfect example is the work associated with Farm to Child Care. AHA played a lead role as three community partner organizations explored how to get locally produced fruits and vegetables into child care centers.

Today the project continues to grow under the leadership of Wake County SmartStart and partners AHA and Cooperative Extension. Together we are providing education, connections and technical assistance to create a workable system where child care facilities are serving NC grown produce for meals and snacks. Children across Wake County are eating better because of AHA and the work of its partners.”

AHA launched a new series, AHA Matters, in January 2016. We are sharing personal thoughts from our Board of Directors members about AHA’s key role in the health of our communities across Wake County.
