Wake County Is Healthiest in North Carolina

Last week, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released their County Health Rankings & Roadmap for 2016, and Wake County is ranked as the healthiest county in North Carolina. This snapshot highlights different criteria for the county.

The rankings are based on a model of population health that emphasizes the many factors that, if improved, can help make communities healthier places to live, learn, work and play. This web page highlights the approach to the rankings; diet and exercise are among the health behaviors assessed, and the physical environment of Wake County is part of the Policies and Programs criteria.

AHA Director Sara Merz was quoted in a News & Observer article last week about the new rankings.
