Edible School Gardens at WCPSS

Schools interested in starting edible gardens in the Wake County Public Schools Systems (WCPSS) have a new resource to help them get started: School Gardens Taking Root in Wake County.

Produced by AHA in partnership with WCPSS staff, Layout 1this resource provides school staff and PTA leaders with step-by-step guidance on:

  • what to consider,
  • how and when to seek approval from WCPSS,
  • how teachers can incorporate the garden into all class subjects,
  • enjoying the harvest and more.

AHA also provides School Gardens Taking Root for schools outside of the WCPSS district and Community Gardens Taking Root in Wake County. AHA’s website also houses a wide variety of helpful resources and links at our School Gardens page and our Community Gardens page, including Dig In! presentations.

Schools also may join a new Facebook group: Wake County Elementary School Gardens; it’s a closed group for those interested in sharing information, resources and ideas about edible gardens at schools in Wake County.
