AHA improves the health and well-being of Wake County residents by facilitating and supporting community initiatives.

AHA Matters–Bonner Gaylord

AHA matters“When I pledged to give up my car for 40 days, I compared my personal calendar with Raleigh’s bus schedule and quickly realized there was just no way to do everything I had to without using a car.

That really showed me how our built environment touches every aspect of our lives. In an ideal world, the built environment would allow people to live a short walk from the grocery stores, shops and workplaces they visit every day.

AHA is working towards this for Wake County. This kind of environment would be more convenient, more sustainable and better for our health.”

–Bonner Gaylord, Kane Realty, Raleigh City Council, AHA Board Member

NOTE:  AHA introduced the AHA Matters series in January 2016. AHA Board of Directors members are sharing personal thoughts on AHA’s role in developing healthier communities in Wake County.
