AHA improves the health and well-being of Wake County residents by facilitating and supporting community initiatives.

AHA Matters

AHA matters“As a parent, supporting strong academic, social and health outcomes for students throughout Wake County is a priority for me. AHA’s work impacts schools and their communities in a way that sets students on a course for success.

Research has repeatedly shown that habits established in childhood influence us throughout our lives, and shaping students’ healthy lifestyle choices can make a tremendous difference in the trajectory of their successes.

Also, I firmly believe students’ healthy habits extend to their families and the community as a whole. AHA brings a win-win for the entire community, and that’s why I’m committed to the success of this collaborative.”

–Sarah Martin, Chair, AHA Board of Directors; Wake PTA Council

January 2016:  AHA is  launching  a new series, AHA Matters, where we will share personal thoughts from our Board of Directors members about AHA’s key role in the health of our communities across Wake County.
