AHA Awarded Coalition Effectiveness Grant

The John Rex Endowment has awarded AHA a coalition effectiveness grant with the goal of advancing the AHA collaborative’s effectiveness in working to prevent childhood overweight and obesity. Coalitions like AHA play a critical role in Wake County as a facilitator of collaboration and as an avenue to collectively identify and address needs at the community and system levels.

“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to build capacity for increased partner engagement, greater sustainability, and even greater outcomes,” said AHA Director Sara Merz.  “Through this grant, we are fortunate to work with a consultant who will guide us in an assessment process leading us to implementation of the priority recommendations and action plan.”

Merz said the grant enables AHA to reflect, learn and strengthen the coalition’s internal capacity for strong collaboration, collective planning and unified action. We look forward to sharing more as the process unfolds.
