AHA Chair Sarah Martin, Director Sara Merz and Project Coordinator Michele McKinley accept the Certificate of Excellence from Wake County Council on Fitness & Health members.

The Wake County Council on Fitness & Health awarded AHA with its Certificate of Excellence on Nov. 12 in recognition of its Brains and Bodies Award, which encourages schools across Wake County to create and foster a culture of health for improved student health and academic performance.

The Council’s mission is to partner with the Wake County communities to increase regular physical activity and promote overall wellness for citizens.

The Certificate of Excellence award was established in 2014 to honor individuals and organizations for their invaluable efforts encouraging all Wake County citizens to increase physical activity and enhance their health.

Recipients are chosen based on specific criteria including leading an exceptional activity, program, or initiative that inspires Wake County citizens to become more physically active and establish positive health and wellness habits. AHA is honored to receive this recognition!
