Strawberry Investigations: Lessons and Prizes for Teachers

NCSI%20logoRGBThe North Carolina Strawberry Association announced its NC Strawberry Investigations (NCSI), which includes strawberry lesson plans and resources for grades K-5, plus the NSCI Education Innovation Contest.

The strawberry production cycle in North Carolina of planting in the fall and harvesting in the spring fits well with the traditional calendar school year. Lessons for science, social studies, math, and language arts, all meeting Common Core standards, are available.  other states as well. Teachers may teach the lessons during the entire school year or choose from among the lessons. The lessons and resources are also appropriate for preschools, home school groups and after-school programs.

Contest: May 1 Deadline

The NCSI project is offering an Educational Innovation Contest  for schools using the NCSI curriculum, awarding three $150 prizes (Amazon gift cards) to the teachers who do the most — or most creative work — with the NCSI program over the 2014-2015 school year. Contest entries are due May 1.
