Funding Opportunity: Food Skills Education
Organizations interested in providing Cooking Matters at the Store tours may apply for a small grant to help support their efforts. Visit cookingmatters.org/grants to learn more; the deadline is Feb. 7.
Cooking Matters at the Store is a 1.5-hour grocery store tour in which participants learn four key food skills:
- Reading food labels
- Comparing unit prices
- Finding whole grains
- Identifying three ways to purchase produce
To qualify, organizations must have:
- Capacity to lead Cooking Matters at the Store tours in your community, including but not limited to recruiting participants, identifying tour leaders, and reaching out to your community
- Ability to reach low-income mothers of children ages five and under
- Commitment and enthusiasm amount staff to implement the program
