AHA Welcomes New Executive Director Sara Merz

The AHA Executive Committee today announced  that Sara Merz is the new Executive Director effective January 6, 2014.

Sara brings a wealth of experience well suited to lead AHA into the future and continue implementation of AHA’s strategic plan. As co-founder of a county-wide health collaborative in Minnesota’s Twin Cities metropolitan area, she led the development of a cross-sector network of partners working toward policy, systems and environmental change to improve the health of citizens in that area. In addition to 15 years’ experience in county and state government, Sara is well versed in applying best practices and is a highly effective communicator.

Sara made Raleigh her home nearly a year ago and has been active in networking throughout our community.  AHA looks forward to her leadership of our 60-partner collaborative to make the healthy choice the easy choice in Wake County.

Quarterly Meeting

Save the date! AHA’s next Quarterly Meeting will be Feb. 14, 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the YMCA of the Triangle Association Resource Center in Raleigh. This will be a great opportunity to meet Sara and for AHA partners to come together early in the new year. AHA will accept RSVPs for the meeting in January.
