Comment on Law Affecting Local Foods Today!

Today is the day to make your voice heard on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)– new food safety regulations that will unfairly burden family farmers, target sustainable and organic farming, and reduce the availability of fresh, local food for our schools and communities. If the proposed rules aren’t shifted, there will be a big impact on sustainable farming and the supply of local foods for schools nationwide.

Comments will be accepted until 11:59 pm tonight, Nov. 15. Take action by commenting here on the Produce Rule and here on the Preventative Controls Rule.

For background information and resources on developing your comments, you may refer to the information prepared by School Food FOCUS and also the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, which provided a lot of the information to FOCUS and provides additional sample comments.
