Creating Active Outdoor Play Spaces: A Guide for Community Organizations

ActivePlaySpacesGuide jpgSummer time is upon us at last, and it’s the perfect time for children and teens to move more. Having an engaging outdoor play space is an important part of keeping youth engaged for 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Move More North Carolina: A Guide to Creating Active Outdoor Play Spaces provides community organizations with best practices for natural areas outside, landscape features, accessibility and more.

Provided by Eat Smart Move More North Carolina, the guide was prepared by the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch of the N.C. Division of Public Health, the Natural Learning Initiative and the N.C. Office of Environmental Education.

While the guide is a great resource for organizations, families can also learn quite a bit about keeping kids active outdoors from the guide!
