$2000 Healthy Lifestyles Grants for 25 PTAs
National PTA announced its Healthy Lifestyles Energy Balance 101 Grant focuses on an everyday healthy lifestyle practice known as energy balance. Energy balance is simply finding a balance between the calories we consume and the calories we burn.
National PTA will award 25 Healthy Lifestyles Energy Balance 101 Grants of $2,000 each to local PTAs for family education events targeting grades PreK-5 (or schools with grades K-5 such as Pre-K- 8/Pre-K-12). Title I schools are strongly encouraged to apply.
These grants are funded by the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, which through its Together Counts™ program and 200+ members and partners, seeks to help significantly reduce childhood obesity rates by 2015.
Online applications are due June 28, 2013, and funding must be spent between October 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014 for healthy lifestyles activities.
National PTA and the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation will host two webinars to:
- Share information about the Healthy Lifestyles Energy Balance 101 grant requirements and timeline;
- Review the Healthy Lifestyle Energy Balance 1001 Grant Request for Proposals and online application process;
- Provide information about the Together Counts materials and Energy Balance 101 program; and
- Answer questions about the grant opportunity or the Energy Balance 101 materials.
NOTE: PTAs that participate in one of these webinars will receive 5 points toward their total application score.
