“Building Healthier Persons and Communities”: June 5-7 NC CACFP Conference

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services will host its 2013 child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Shaping Futures Conference:  “Buildingboy with carrot Healthier Persons and Communities in North Carolina”  June 5 -7, 2013 at the Sheraton Imperial in Durham. This conference is for child and adult day care providers, food service companies, childcare cooks, community organizations, businesses, and for state/federal agencies working on nutrition and physical activity for children and adults across the State. 

Some of the conference highlights are…

  • a special cooking track with hands-on demonstrations for center directors, cooks, nutritionists, and food service companies
  •  sessions on physical activity with the Let’s All Play Program from the Clay Aiken Foundation, BeActive Kids of NC, and Hoopersize with KidTribe.
  • Workshops on starting vegetable gardens, Farm to Preschool programs, teaching kids to enjoy healthy foods and more
  •  Guest Speakers include Don Arnette with the USDA, Laura Gerald with NC DHHS, and Shellie Phofl with the President’s Council on Exercise
