Public Invited to Raleigh Parks and Rec Visioning Sessions May 13-17

GreenwayThe City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department is in the midst of a 16-month citywide process to develop a new Parks and Recreation System Plan that will shape the city’s parks, greenways and recreation services over the next 20 years…and you have an opportunity to provide input. Parks and Rec will host a series of public Visioning Sessions May 13-17 at the Raleigh Convention Center; the outcome of these sessions will shape the parks system. You’re invited to a Kick-off Event on May 13 6-8 pm–bring your ideas and see what has been completed to date on the project, including city-wide survey results.

There will be 15 different visioning sessions;of special interest to those concerned about healthy lifestyles are:

  • Sustainability: May 13, 2-5 pm
  • Natural Areas: May 14, 1-4 pm
  • Greenways & Trails: 5:30-9 pm
  • Equity & Existing Parks: May 14, 6-9 pm
  • Community Health & Fitness: May 15, 1-4 pm
  • Parks and Transportation: May 16, 1-4 pm

All are invited to an Open House on Friday, May 17 from 3:30-6:30 pm; from 5-5:45 there will be a presentation on the results of the visioning sessions.
