Let’s Get Pumped! Bike to School Day Planning Webinar
Bike to School Day is May 8 across the country. Last year hundreds of schools participated in the first ever National Bike to School Day event. Students, parents, and safe routes organizers across the country took off the training wheels and figured out how to balance a two-wheeled event; turned out to be just as fun, media-friendly, and energizing as Walk to School Day!
If you’re hesitating to start a Bike to School event because you aren’t quite sure how to pull it off, consider this Feb. 26 webinar from Safe Routes to School.
- Mark Wyatt, Executive Director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition
- Don Cross, Planner with the City of Phoenix
- Christine Gilliard-Arthur, Physical Education Teacher, Prince George’s County Schools, MD; Teacher of the Year 2012
The three presenters will start by making the case for the many benefits children get when they bike with family and friends, and why promoting biking among children is worth the effort. Then hear some lessons learned from seasoned walk to school organizers who held their first bike to school events last year, and get a glimpse at online resources that can help you get started.
