In the Dirt: More Resources & Grants for School & Community Gardens

Kale is a great cold weather garden staple here in North Carolina!

A number of school and community gardening related resources have come across our desk recently.

Spanish Resources: If you have Spanish-speaking students involved in your garden, check out the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom lesson plans and other resources.

Sow It Forward Grants: Kitchen Gardeners International (KGI) is accepting applications for its grants and partnership program, offering $600 grants of cash, seeds, supplies, books and online garden planning software to groups wishing to start a new food garden project or sustain an existing one. Applicants may include schools, food pantries, community gardens, retirement homes and other nonprofit groups interested in healthy foods, sustainability and resilient communities. Deadline: Jan. 11, 2013.

More Grants: remember that sometimes grant applications may not specifically cite school or community gardens, but they may be applicable!
