Get Moving at Raleigh Winterfest!
Ice skating is a great way to get some exercise and some fun this winter! AT&T Raleigh Winterfest kicks off with a free opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 1, with the ice rink open from to 2:00-11:00 pm at City Plaza in downtown Raleigh. This festival is the first of many fun activities at the rink over a two-month period, including:
- Sledding Sundays
- Two for One Tuesdays
- Work Out Wednesdays, where you can warm up on the rink for with some fun exercises,
- Date and Skate Thursdays
- Rock Around the Rink Fridays, and
- All-Day Skate Saturdays.
- Sledding Sundays: December 16, January 6 and 27 from 12 noon-4 pm (SnowMyYard.com will create a winter wonderland on these days and the sledding will be free for all those who have a skating wristband. What a fun way to get some exercise outdoors!)
The ice rink will be open six days a week from December 1 through January 30. Admission, which includes skate rentals, is $8.
The Dec. 1 opening celebration will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a tree lighting, a stage full of performers, sledding ramps, carriage rides, bounce houses, a carousel, a Ferris wheel, more than 40 vendors featuring local restaurants, crafts and gift items. Santa Claus and his helpers will be in the village as well! Also new for this Winterfest kickoff, a 42-foot outdoor movie screen will be showing “The Polar Express” at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
