Pedestrian Plan Photo Contest: Take Your Best Shot!
Have a flair for photography and an interest in pedestrian safety? If so, it’s a match made in heaven for the City of Raleigh’s Pedestrian Plan Photo Contest. The city’s draft Comprehensive Pedestrian Plan has been released for public comment until November 16, and your winning photo could grace the cover of the final plan. This plan is meant to provide planners with tools and strategies for making Raleigh a more walkable city.
Transportation Planning Manager Eric Lamb invites you to send your best shot of people walking in Raleigh. The winning photo will appear on the cover of the final version of the plan. “There are no rewards for this contest other than fame, glory, and bragging rights,” Lamb said.
1) There must be actual people walking in the picture (after all, it is a pedestrian plan). Dogs, strollers, and children are optional.
2) The photo has to be a good example of pedestrian infrastructure (because the city already has a thousand photos of bad examples).
3) The photo has to be taken on a public street in Raleigh.
4) All submissions become property of the City of Raleigh.
Photos may be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to submit as many photos as you like, but only attach one photo per email submission, and each photo should be no larger than 4MB in size. All submissions must be received by 5pm on November 16.
The top five photos will be featured on Raleigh’s website, and the best photo will be used on the cover of the final version of the plan.
