Garden Grants and Healthy School Makeover Contest

AHA is sharing two opportunities for funding—the Green Thumb Challenge and the Healthy School Makeover Contest.

The Green Education Foundation and Gardener’s Supply are hosting the Green Thumb Challenge this fall and offering a $5000 grant for established youth garden projects. Schools and youth groups are invited to apply for the grant by Sept. 30 to continue sustaining their garden and making an impact in their community.  Remember—only existing garden programs involving kids K-12 from schools and youth groups are eligible.

The 2012 Health School Makeover Contest will award one school $45,000 worth of equipment, curriculum, training and more. Schools have until Oct. 31 to submit a 3-minute video explaining why your school needs a “healthy school makeover” and how you will commit to improving the healthy living of your students. Students can be part of the video application!
