CASL and Y Guides Support Healthy Options for Kids
This fall AHA is thrilled to partner with two organizations that have a huge reach to children across Wake County and support our efforts to grow healthy children: the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) and the Y Guides Arapahoe Nation!
Soccer Stars Tweet Healthy Snacks!
Like last year, CASL is sharing AHA’s Sport Snack Game Plan
with recreational league coaches and their families and encouraging teams to provide healthy snacks to refuel during or after games. Endorsed by more than 80 pediatricians across Wake County, the Sports Snack Game Plan provides simple tips on packing healthy snacks for children.
This fall, CASL is adding an incentive for teams with a perfect record of healthy snacking. CASL invites coaches and team mangers to snap a picture of their team’s healthy snack and post it to Twitter using their team name and @CASLNC with the hashtag #AHASSGP each week. Teams with a perfect score of “8 and 0” for healthy snacks will be entered into a drawing for a prize! @WakeAHA is looking forward to following the #AHASSGP tweets and seeing all those healthy snacks!
How How: Fathers, Sons & Daughters
The Y Guides program of the YMCA of the Triangle involves 13,000 fathers, sons and daughters, and this fall, AHA is helping dads in the program think about some fun and healthy options for their monthly meetings and camping outings.
AHA has created several resources for the Y Guides, which are included in the Y Guides guide book for chiefs and here on AHA’s web site. These include:
AHA is looking forward to meeting a lot of fathers at the Fall Chiefs’ Meeting to share these resources and other ideas about how tribes can put a healthier spin on all the fun!
And, a special shout out to the Girl Scout and Boy Scout leaders out there–each of these new AHA resources are also available to you in a generic format. Spread the word!
