Looking to Make a Difference?
If you’re a parent, teacher or administrator in Wake County looking to make a difference in student (and staff!) health, consider this opportunity to jumpstart interest in healthy habits as the new school year gets underway. One simple and fun way your school can put a spotlight on wellness is by participating in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
They are kicking off the school year with their new “Are You In?” Fuel Up to Play 60 Pledge Campaign. Schools can join this nationwide campaign by encouraging their students to take the pledge between now and September 30. The more people from a school who take the pledge to eat right and move more, the greater a school’s chance of winning a visit from an NFL player! Beyond that fun incentive, however, are a lot of resources to support your school in promoting wellness, plus schools that participate are eligible for funding.
Funds for Schools
Up to $4,000 per year is available to any qualifying K-12 school enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60. The competitive, nationwide funding program helps schools jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements. Schools that are just starting out with the program or looking to expand an initiatives already in motion can apply to be part of the program. The deadline is October 1. Get all the details on eligibility from Fuel Up to Play 60.
Promote the Pledge
Even adults can take the Pledge at Pledge.FuelUpToPlay60.com. If your school is planning an offline Pledge-signing drive, where students will pledge on paper and not online, you can enter those Pledges in the My Team section of your Dashboard. Click here for official contest rules.
